Many people have asked how I entered the SDSD. Last summer I saw information about the contest at the HEB register. It interested me because I had already started losing weight.
I looked up the contest through the HEB website and read the application rules. I saw that I had to submit a video, application, and picture. If I was chosen, I would have to go to San Antonio for a week for Fit Camp and return a couple of times after that. Most personal costs associated with the contest would be reimbursed (other than the week of vacation time used).
All of this seemed doable, so I filled out the application, which asked questions about things I’ve tried in the past, what makes now different, etc. I was able to talk about the support I have through my Fitlosophy group and how that was helping me.
It took longer to do the video. I had a lot of things I wanted to say, so it took several tries to get it done. I have to admit that I was also pretty nervous!
I was suprised to be chosen because I’d already started losing weight, but several of the contestants had lost a lot of weight before the contest started.
If you’d like to apply, keep an eye on the HEB website and the register. Even if you have doubts about applying, try it! Even if you don’t get it, you’ve had the courage to put yourself out there, which means you also have the courage to make changes without the contest.
